Canada Border Services Agency/Environment and Climate Change Canada SWI Trade Session

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), in conjunction with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), is hosting a Trade Consultation Session, via WebEx.  The focus of the session will be the commercial importation of goods regulated under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) as implemented in Canada by the Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act (WAPPRIITA).   Also within scope are species designated as harmful to Canadian ecosystems under Schedule II of the associated Wild Animal and Plant Trade Regulations (WAPTR).

The Session is scheduled for March 23, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. (EST). The objective of this webinar will be to provide participants with information on the Single Window Initiative (SWI) as it relates to the administration and enforcement of WAPPRIITA for commercial importations of regulated goods.

The session will provide a forum for discussion on the following aspects:

  • Information on the SWI;
  • Business process changes to the importation of commercial goods that are subject to importation regulations and regulating control under the WAPPRIITA.
  • Data requirements for ECCC regulated commodities under WAPPRIITA.

This webinar is being offered in English and is provided free of charge to participants.
