The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued Import Alert 99.41 this week which strengthens their stance on FSVP enforcement. This alert allows for “Detention Without Physical Examination of Human and Animal Foods Imported from Foreign Suppliers by Importers Who Are Not in Compliance with the Requirements of the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) Regulation”. Please be sure to notify your US buyers of this new development. Their failure to comply may result in shipment delays.
