Canadian Agriculture Minister says Repeal of COOL is the ‘only way’ to avert Retaliation

Canadian Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz has made his opinion known that the repeal of the United States’ country of origin labelling is the only way to avoid Canadian retaliation. This retaliation will affect US origin meat, dairy, wine, furniture, and jewelry. Though the US House of Representatives repealed COOL in June, the Senate has yet to finalize a bill. The lawmakers will not return to Capitol Hill until the second week of September.
