U.S. Federal Government Shutdown Has Ended

The longest government shutdown in U.S. history ended after Congress passed a bill that was quickly signed into law, restoring government operations and resuming normal activity. However, the economic repercussions are expected to linger for months.

During the 43-day shutdown, the collection and release of essential economic data was interrupted, delaying key indicators that policymakers depend on to guide the economy.

The White House now warns that gaps in jobs and inflation statistics could make economic planning more challenging in the months ahead.
