CBSA Releases Administrative Guidance on 2025 Steel Surtax Remission Measures

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has published new administrative guidance outlining how the Surtax on Imports of Certain Steel Goods Remission Order, 2025 will be applied. This update provides clarity for importers navigating surtax obligations and potential relief measures.

  • Relief for In‑Transit Goods:

Surtax may be remitted on eligible steel products that were already enroute to Canada on or before August 1, 2025.

  • Relief for Certain Listed Products:

Additional remission may apply to goods identified in the Schedule of the Remission Order that were imported on or after June 27, 2025, provided they meet the outlined criteria.
