Customs Notice 26-07: Steel Derivative Goods Surtax Remission Order

The Order provides relief for goods that are used in public health, public safety, and national security; health care; wind towers; and all goods as listed in schedule 1 of the Remission Order.

Relief is case sensitive and the goods being imported must meet the conditions set out in the Order (sections I through IV).

Use of special appropriate authorization codes is case sensitive and must meet the conditions (HS classification and product definition) set out in the applicable schedule of the order.   The authorization code must be referenced on the Custom Accounting Document (CAD) at the time of entry to avoid surtaxes.

Requests for refund of surtaxes paid must be made within the prescribed time limits and reference the appropriate authorization code.

Remission is permitted for eligible goods imported from December 26, 2025 in respect of surtax applied per the Steel Derivative Goods Surtax Order.

Paragraphs 22 – 25 indicate the applicable authorization codes to be used based on the details provided in the schedule of the Order.
