After Canada threatens retaliatory tariffs, U.S. Ends 10 Percent tariffs on Unwrought Aluminum

US Trade Representative (USTR) announced that the 10 percent duty on non-alloyed unwrought aluminum that began on August 16th will be ended. This action will be retroactive to September 1st.  Therefore, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will refund duty paid from September 1st to September 15th.  This announcement comes one day prior to Canadian countermeasures were to take effect.

However, the USTR stated that the duty could return based on monthly import levels.

This duty was levied on imports of non-alloyed unwrought aluminum provided for in subheading 7601.10.  This included 7601.10.3000, 7601.10.6030, and 7601.10.6090.
