CN Intermodal News – New Storage Options

The following is provided by CN

We recognize that these are difficult times and want to thank you for your continued collaboration.

We continue to operate very efficiently across our network including the Canada – U.S. border and our current inland terminal capacity remains stable.

Storage Options

We understand that recent government announcements of closures to non-essential services may affect the pipeline of certain products and containers.  Those containers that do not require immediate delivery may need extended storage.  To assist, we would like to provide you with immediate alternate storage options in the city of Toronto, ON, Chicago, IL, and Memphis, TN.  We are also in the process of reviewing additional off-site options in Montreal, QC, Detroit, MI and Joliet, IL.

If you are interested in evaluating extended storage options in any of these cities, please fill out the form below which will allow us to serve you better, based your current needs.

We also encourage customers to make their own arrangements to out-gate these boxes at destination terminals, keeping in mind that chassis must not get tied up for extended storage or dwell.  Chassis shortage within the supply chain will translate to substantial disruption given the current situation.  Together, we can ensure that essential products continue to move fluidly within the supply chain.

Should you require any further information please contact your Account Manager or Customer Service Representative.  We welcome your feedback and questions to help us better anticipate your supply chain needs during this difficult time.  Rest assured we are here to move your freight.

Thank you, we appreciate your partnership.

COVID-19 is a global challenge. Keeping our supply chains moving is important for maintaining the health and wellbeing of citizens and businesses. While the Canada - U.S. border is now closed to non-essential traffic, it is still open for trade and commerce. We are committed to doing our part for global supply chains.

We are protecting the health and safety of our employees. They are working from home, except for critical functions that require certain equipment or managing paper/courier flow. In those cases we are following social distancing guidelines.

We are open and available to assist you, and key players in your supply chains. Our dedicated staff are available 24/7 and our brokerage and logistics experts are available to help you make adjustments to your supply chain, if necessary.

We encourage you to check out the government programs available to families, businesses, exporters and importers. And, while respecting the need for social distancing we encourage everyone, including our staff, to reach out and remain connected to family, friends, colleagues and customers.

Stay safe.
