Fresh Cherries from Ontario Prohibited

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has issued notice that fresh cherries from Ontario will be refused entries at all US ports effective immediately.  This action is to prevent the introduction of the European Cherry Fruit Fly which was recently detected in Ontario.  Fresh Cherries from other provinces are allowed if they are accompanied by a bill of lading or vendor receipt that confirms the origin.  This ban does not include frozen, canned, or cooked cherries.
