The U.S. Department of Commerce added a new subheading, 9903.82.01, to the tariff schedule for goods subject to Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum or copper that don’t contain any of those metals. This subheading applies a zero percent additional tariff rate to eligible goods, retroactive to April 6, the effective date of the most recent Section 232 tariff revisions.
The notice includes a technical correction to the U.S. note to resolve an inconsistency in part (e) of Note 16. The notice also issued a clarification on U.K. origin steel made by Tata Steel UK that report steel melted and poured in the Netherlands qualifies for the lower U.K.-specific rate for Section 232 steel tariffs using 9903.82.04 until Jan. 1, 2028.
