This is a reminder that, further to the Minister of Finance’s announcement on June 3, 2026, extending the tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) for certain steel products listed in Item 82 of the Import Control List, the Government of Canada has launched public consultations to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to submit their views on the administration of the TRQs.
The input received will help inform potential changes that could be made to the administration of the TRQs, including the possibility of an allocations-based approach for certain product classes.

The consultation period runs from July 23 to August 19, 2026. The deadline to submit comments is 11:59 p.m. (ET) on August 19, 2026.
