Effective July 30, 2026, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requires importers of certain copper articles (except those of U.S. origin) to report the primary country of smelt and country of cast on entry summaries. Importers may also report the secondary country of smelt.
This requirement applies to the following HTS classifications:
- 8544.42.10
- 8544.42.20
- 8544.42.90
- 8544.49.10
