This message pertains to imports of certain steel goods (heavy plate and stainless steel wire) subject to the Order Imposing a Surtax on the Importation of Certain Steel Goods.
The purpose of this message is to inform importers that a new Notice to Importers has been published reflecting amendments to the Order Imposing a Surtax on the Importation of Certain Steel Goods, which imposes final safeguards on heavy plate and stainless steel wire, effective May 13, 2019.
The new Notice also contains information on applications for a quota allocation. Applications for a quota allocation will be accepted by Global Affairs Canada between May 10 and May 24, 2019. Said quota allocation, if granted, may be used between June 3, 2019 and January 31, 2020. Applications must be submitted by May 24, 2019.
The new Notice, serial no. 945, supersedes the previous no. 944 effective May 13, 2019. It may be found on the Global Affairs website.
