Trump Ends Steel and Aluminum Tariff Exemptions for Largest U.S. Trading Partners

The United States has ended the exemptions for Canada, Mexico, and the European Union. The 25 percent tariff on steel articles and the 10 percent tariff on aluminum articles will be assessed on goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after June 1, 2018.

Steel manufactured in all countries except Australia, Argentina, and Brazil will be subject to the 25 percent tariff.  Steel and iron imports manufactured in Argentina and Brazil will be subject to quota restrictions.

Aluminum manufactured in all countries except Australia and Argentina will be subject to the 10 percent duty.  Aluminum manufactured in Argentina will be subject to quota restrictions.
