UPDATE – Organic Products Certificates

Digital copies of the ‘organic products certificate” will not be required to be transmitted with the Integrated Import Declaration (IID) release request, that was set to go into affect October 01, 2020.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has advised the following concerning import requirements related to “organic products certificates”.

…. Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) will be updated for organic fresh fruits and vegetables to only require an indication of confirmation (i.e. a declaration of “yes”) in the Integrated Import Declaration (IID) that the importer is in possession of the organic certificate.  However, the certificate number and an uploaded copy of the certificate will not be required as part of the declaration until further notice.

CFIA has further confirmed that the requirement for the “yes” declaration will not be in place for October 1st. The date for when a declaration will be required is October 5th.

The CFIA will be working and meeting with industry to establish an implementation timeline that will work for all parties.
