U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer announced an investigation under Section 301 (b) of the Trade Act of 1974 focused on structural excess capacity and production across manufacturing sectors. The investigation on activities in China, the European Union, Singapore, Switzerland, Norway, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Mexico, Japan, and India examine whether the activities burden or restrict U.S. commerce.
