AMPS: Grace Period for Late Accounting Penalties Expired

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is pleased to announce the resolution of service interruptions that led to delayed commercial messages. Consequently, on June 16th, 2026, the grace period implemented for the issuance of Administrative Monetary Penalties for contraventions associated with the electronic transmission of data using the affected systems during this period, is expired.

Contraventions identified between April 19, 2026, and June 16, 2026, inclusive that were the result of these service interruptions will not be penalized.

If you believe the penalty assessment has been applied inappropriately, you may request a decision of the Minister. The request must be submitted directly to the Recourse Directorate within 90 days from the date of the Notice of Penalty Assessment. The CARM client portal provides for the ability to submit requests which also allows the user to view the status of the appeal online and correspond with CBSA. Decisions will be posted in the Portal once rendered.

Information on accessing Recourse review is available on the CBSA website.
