Duty Free Treatment under GSP Modified

The Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) is a free trade program that allows for duty free treatment of certain commodities imported directly from developing nations.  Last week, a Presidential Proclamation modified this program.

The Ukraine has now been removed from GSP eligibility for not providing adequate protection of intellectual property rights. Additionally, Thailand’s GSP eligibility has now been suspended for not providing an internationally recognized level of worker’s rights.
