June 27, 2026, appears to be the built-in repeal date for Order Imposing a Surtax on the Importation of Certain Steel Goods.
The Department of Finance has advised the Government of Canada has yet to decide if the tariff rate quota (TRQ) measures will be extended beyond June 27, 2026.
The surtax order is under ongoing review “to account for market developments, ongoing trade discussions with other countries, and to assess impacts and determine whether adjustments, including potential extensions or termination, are appropriate”.
If the measures are to be extended an announcement will be made to advise Trade Chain Partners as soon as possible.
