U.S. to Issue Additional Duty on Articles of Steel and Aluminum February 8th Update

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative published President Trump’s latest installment in U.S. tariffs on foreign goods.  The “Proclamation on Adjusting Imports of Derivative Aluminum Articles and Derivative Steel Articles into the United States” outlines the decision to now impose tariffs on aluminum and steel articles imported into the United States.

Aluminum articles will be assessed and additional 10 percent duty, similar to the 232 tariffs already in place on the aluminum manufacturing material. Goods manufactured in Canada, Mexico, Argentina and Australia will be exempt.  The list of tariff numbers can be found in Annex I.

Steel articles will be assessed and additional 25 percent duty, similar to the 232 tariffs already in place on the steel manufacturing material.  Goods manufactured in Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Argentina, Australia, and Brazil will be exempt.  The list of tariff numbers can be found in Annex II.
