The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regularly updates its Import Alerts, which identify products, manufacturers, or importers that may be subject to Detention Without Physical Examination (DWPE).
One recent update, Import Alert 99-32, addresses products from firms that have refused an FDA foreign establishment inspection. Products subject to an Import Alert may be detained by the FDA and ultimately refused entry into the United States.
Importers and compliance teams should routinely monitor FDA Import Alerts to identify potential supply chain impacts and ensure ongoing compliance with FDA requirements.
